Buying at Our Auction

Absentee Bid Form

General Information:

Buying at Eric’s is a fun way to find interesting & desirable items at a reasonable price.  If you are new to the auction process, we would love to walk you through the very easy bidding process.

Our auction schedule, as well as catalogs & pictures are listed on our homepage, http://www.proxibid.com/ericsauction & http://www.auctionzip.com/auctioneer/erics

Auctions are held at specific dates and times.  Typically our auctions are on Monday evenings at 5:45 PM.  The items that will be sold at auction may be previewed prior to the auction during specific preview times.  Only registered bidders may preview the auction, so please be prepared to register when coming for your first preview.  Previews also require an appointment which can be made by phone, e-mail, or stopping in.  This limits the number of people previewing at one time as to enhance the experience for everyone and allow you to inspect the items, in a reasonably controlled environment.    Check each individual auction listing for details regarding preview times

All bidders must be pre-registered prior to the start of the auction.  Each bidder will receive a bidder number, which will be their permanent bidder number for every auction we host, unless bidding via an online bidding platform.

The auction will begin promptly at the scheduled time.  Bidders have the opportunity to place bids (in-person, by phone, via absentee bid & internet bidding) during the auction. Phone bids will be taken as absentee bids unless a special request to bid live via phone is approved by us.  Competing bids will be accepted on each item (or lot) until such time as there are no additional bids and/or the auctioneer states the item is “sold,” at which time the high bidder will be declared the winner of that item at the final bid amount.  Bidders will be required to pay the bid amount as well as the stated buyer’s premium and any applicable taxes (7% at our Libertyville, IL facility).  A valid Illinois Reseller Certificate must be on file for tax-exempt transactions, unless items are being sold & shipped outside of Illinois.

Terms & Conditions:
All sales are completely final.  No refunds, returns, or exchanges. No exceptions.  All items are sold as-is, where-is, without any representations, guarantees or warranties of any kind, neither expressed nor implied.  Eric’s Estate Liquidation & Auction Service, its owner, employees, consignors, contractors or affiliates shall not be held responsible for any misrepresentation of items at auction.  Our lot titles and descriptions (including any comments on condition) are to be used only as a guide.  You, the bidder/purchaser, are the only one who can determine the age, genuineness, suitability, condition and value of the items up for auction.  We hold no responsibility for making such determinations and are not qualified to do so.  Know what you are buying and inspect any item(s) you plan to bid on yourself prior to the auction.  You understand that if you are bidding online via any of our online bidding platforms, including but not limited to Proxibid.com, or are bidding without previewing the items in person, you are do not have the benefits live previewing offers in determining the above-listed attributes and you are choosing to bid anyway, incurring this additional risk.

Most auction houses charge an increased buyer’s premium for internet bidding and no discount for absentee bids.  We are different and like to encourage these forms of bidding and offer a 2% discount on our buyer’s premium for using them!  We have room for a maximum of 50 people on-site, so we encourage only those people who are interested in many lots to bid via on-site bidding.  We may also offer the 2% discount to on-site bidders at our sole discretion.

Auctioneer’s announcements & postings on auction day take precedence over all other material.

WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE SERVICE (IN PART OR IN WHOLE) TO ANYONE, FOR ANY REASON, OR WITHOUT REASON.  WE ALSO RESERVE THE RIGHT TO CANCEL, CHANGE ANY ITEM OR DISALLOW ANY BIDS.  AUCTIONS ARE CONDUCTED AT THE AUCTIONEER’S SOLE DISCRETION AND HIS DECISIONS ARE ALWAYS 100% FINAL.

Payment & Removal of Items:
Buyers may pay for their purchases via cash, MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Discover. We do not accept personal checks.  Buyer’s premium is 15% (discounted 3% for cash payment and/or 2% for internet & absentee bidding) and applicable sales tax (7% for our auctions at our Libertyville, IL location) unless a valid Illinois Reseller certificate is on-file.

All won items must be paid for the day of the auction if bidding live, or by the day after the auction otherwise and removed within 48 hours unless other arrangements have been made prior to auction.  Storage fees of $7/day per item ($20/day for larger items) will apply after the 48-hour period unless prior arrangements have been made.

On-site bidders please note:  Checkout for items begins about 10 minutes after the auction is complete.  There can be a significant line if there are lots of on-site bidders, so please be prepared to wait.  If you do not want to wait, we strongly recommend leaving your credit card number on file with us to process post-auction and then come back to pick up the items sometime in the following 48 hours.

No matter your form of bidding, be it live, absentee, phone or internet, any bidder wishing to have items shipped shall pay the cost of shipping, handling, packaging, and insurance.

We will charge a $35 Service Fee to any winning bidder whose credit card is declined for payment and/or other charges due. Any payment not received within 72 Hours will be charged a $250 Collection Fee.
