Selling at Eric’s is easy, quick and fun! Anyone wishing to sell an item or items should contact us via e-mail or phone and arrange to bring the items to our location for sale at auction. You may also e-mail pictures in advance. If we think the item(s) will be a good addition to our auction, or good for selling on Ebay, we will offer to take it under consignment. If you decide to do so, you will fill out our Consignment Agreement and we will begin the selling process.
Commission rates and reserve (minimum selling price) policies vary by auction, but generally speaking our live auctions are “no reserve” (though we can have minimum bids for specific items) and our commission rate is 20% of the hammer price (winning bid). We always reserve the right to adjust commission rates. Ebay listing rates vary by consignor as well, but are generally 35% of net proceeds.
Consignors will be paid the final sale price of their consignments, less any commissions and/or fees due. Consignor payment will be by check and will be available for pickup (5) business days after sale, if sold in a live auction and 60 days if sold on Ebay.
We also work with estates and estate sale companies to provide customized liquidation solutions. We host post-estate sale bulk auctions on-site, Ebay listings, as well as accept consignments for our various auctions hosted at our Libertyville, IL location. This provides a unique solution for estate sale companies to maximize value for their client, while earning additional revenue themselves. No longer do estate sale companies have to drop price drastically on higher end items on the last day of the sale, as they can sell those items through our consignment auction (or Ebay listing service) at a reduced and customized commission structure. Furthermore, instead of paying or having a buyout/cleanout service or charity come to empty the post-estate sale remaining contents, estate sale companies can now auction the remaining contents off, in bulk, right there out of the home, with removal being the responsibility of the purchaser. This additional revenue source can be a key to profitability as well as provide a great marketing tool to attract more estate clients.
